This was our first ultrasound showing 3 sacks however we were told by our Doctor that it was very early in the game and that more than likely the chances were high that one or two sacks would disipate. So, we were excited to be pregnant but didn’t really know what to think. Kristi’s mother is a twin and her mother’s family had two sets of twins in their family so we had really geared up for twins, thought very little of the triplet possibility. However, as we know it know, this was our first family portrait.
16 WEEK ULTRASOUND – TRIPLETS!!!!
Then came the 16 week ultrasound, first ultrasound with our Peri who has state of the art ultrasound equipment and where he advised us that in fact all three sacks “took” and was the first to tell us that we were having triplets. He advised that we were well beyond the first trimester and advised us to “gear up, your having triplets”. As that wasn’t surprise enough, we were told that our triplets were ALL BOYS! It was also at this appointment that the babies were officially given their first first names, Baby A, Baby B and Baby C. No worries, we ARE going to change them. Can you see Baby A sucking his thumb?
20 WEEK ULTRASOUND – KNICKNAMES
The boys are growing and starting to move around a little more. Kristi has started giving them knicknames as well: Baby A is lowrider because he is the lowest one of the three and sometimes knocks on the door (cervix); Baby B is “Zoolander” names after the Ben Stiller movie where he plays the Male Model (great movie), Zoolander was named because the ultrasound tech couldn’t stop taking pictures of him, she said he was giving her some great poses, he’s a HAM like his dad; and finally Baby C is “Chili”, Kristi named him Chili for Chili’s Babyback Ribs, Chili is tucked away nicely right under Kristi’s ribs and likes to knock them when he gets bored. Again, no worries, we will PROBABLY change the names.
23 WEEK ULTRASOUND – STILL BOYS!
The first thing I asked the ultrasound tech at this ultrasound was, “are they still all boys”. Her response, “well, they haven’t fallen off if that’s what your asking”. We had these pictures available at the couples babyshower that we had but Kristi would not let me show the “gender” photos, said it was “wierd” to show the boy’s “thingies”. But, this is my blog and I’m bringing them out. As you can see, there really is no question as to their genders. Baby B “Zoolander” is already being told to get his hands out of his pants (see photo below, get it?). Baby C is already playing tricks on us - playing the “look, my thumb fell off” trick.

Pretty cool! I had my first son without the benefit of ultrasound and the 2nd son had one, but that was in the first days of ultrasound and you couldn’t tell much. They are 30 and 26 years now. Imagine how improved things will be when your boys are26-30yrs.!
