Welcome to Los Tres Dutchicans

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

Welcome everyone to my first blogsite that, of course, will keep our family and friends posted with all the information on our upcoming delivery of triplets.  Kristi is doing good although each day becomes a bit tougher and a bit longer.  I will say though she is being a champ and not complaining too much.  We, well she, has made it to the 28 week mark which is considered a crucial mark in triplet pregnancies.  Each Thursday marks another week and Kristi’s new goal is the 30 week mark which will hopefully be followed by 32 then 34 and so on up until the 36 week mark.  The average gestation in triplet pregnancies is 32 weeks and if all goes well (as it has so far) the kids will be with us in mid to late November or early to mid December.  They will probably spend sometime in NICU upon arrival as it is very common that triplets are born preemies.  The way the Doctor explained it to us is that every added week now will more than likely reduce a week in NICU when they are born, for the most part.  As you can all imagine Kristi and I have gone through many emotions in this pregnancy; excitement at the learning we were pregnant, shock to find out they were announcing we were more than likely having twins, and then of course major league shock when they told us “there’s another one in there, your having triplets”.  Kristi and I were literally in a state of shock for 3 to 4 days, only muttering words to each other in passing such as, “three?” or “triplets?”.  We truly couldn’t be happier and yes, we know, it’s going to be crazy crazy crazy!  For those that do not know yet, our latest news is that the triplets are all boys.  I have been scheming and planning for a way to get urinals installed in our bathrooms.  Nah, I’m sure they will all be GREAT aims, hopefully anyway, unlike their father who is now content with simply sitting.

So, welcome all, welcome to OUR LIFE WITH TRIPLETS.  We will keep you posted and please be patient with me, I am just a beginner blogger and am sure to make mistakes.

I also wanted to welcome all of Kristi’s knitting  friends (more like family) by officially telling you all in my own words, THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU!!!!  I will say it now and say it always, “KNITTERS ROCK”!!!  For those who don’t know it yet Kristi’s knitting community has started an on-line virtual baby-shower, or knit-shower for Los Tres Dutchicans.  See for yourself.  What a great group of people who have been there with Kristi through this entire pregnancy and even been through our prior bumps and bruises.  Thank you all again you wonderful wonderful people, KNITTERS ROCK!

  • Welcome to the blog world! Thanks for all the kind comments on knitters. You must have noticed we can be a stubborn bunch as well.:)Thanks for keeping us posted about the boys. This is truly exciting as most all of us will never experience 3 at once, but we can live it through you. I have all of you in my prayers daily for health and a few more weeks in the oven. My best to you.

  • hi hubby,
welcome to the blog world and i am so glad you are here. now we know where to go to know the latest news. you sound like a great guy. kristi and the boys are lucky to have you.

  • I’m so glad you’ve joined blog world. The knitting community is amazing, isn’t it?

  • Welcome to the neighborhood. You keep this up and maybe we can sell your story to a TV network for a great new reality show. In the meantime, your reality is pretty suspenseful. We’re all hanging on every word. (Hi to Kristi.)

  • Hey welcome to blogland (and enjoy it as much as you can before all those bottles, diapers and burpings!). As one of your virtual knitters (finishing up my second sweater of three) it has been a blast to knit up little ‘Dutchicans’ knowing how much fun you will get out of it all. Of course asking knitters to contribute to a great cause results in a whole lotta product! This is great!

  • When those little guys are born, this blog will be your best friend. When you’re exhausted from parenting times three, and people will ask how the kids are doing–all you have to mutter is a web address! :-)

  • What a journey you are about to embark on!! But after raising both boys and girls I will say that boys are easier(no rollercoaster hormones). My husband is 100% Dutch-hence the unpronounceable last name I have. Actually, in Kalamazoo where we are from originally, it is not only pronounceable but not considered strange. I however am a Mutt(1/2 dutch and some Welsh) so that makes our kids Dutchmutts!! This is the 1st generation of DeLeeuws that is not 100%-imagine how thrilled the DeLeeuw boy’s Mom was(is)!!!
My knitting for your boys is not done(I am in a Lace Class that has homework) so keep those boys baking a few weeks more!!
So will they have Dutch first names or Hispanic first names. Hans Garcia?? HMMM???

  • Hi Hubby

Welcome to blogville. I warn you it can be addictive! :)

You sound like a great hubby and wonderful future father. It will be a rocky road but you both sound like great parents already.

Hm as for your commets re knitters they are a wonderful bunch, but as a newbie visitor to your wifes blog I can’t take much credit. But I can assure you there are heaps of positive thoughts and prayers coming your way from down under.

I look forward to hearing your “slant” on the coming weeks.

    Cheers

  • We do, don’t we! Best of wishes. Just waiting to hear those magical words…”Gentlemen(baby boys), start your engines(crying)!”.

  • welcome to blogland. i am very new to the blogging world too, but it is fun. i check in everyday to see the progress of the babies and Kristi. sending good thoughts your way!

  • Hello, Kristi’s hubby!

Thank goodness! I’m worried every day that Kristi’s posts will stop and we won’t know what’s going on. Now I know that you’ll be here (eventually) to deliver the news. Whew!

  • Hey there Daddy of three! Great blog you have here. :) I will be reading it regularily for updates. Thank you. :)

  • Welcome to the addictive world of blogging! I simply adore reading Kristi’s posts about your family, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy yours just as much!

    Hugs,
    Kellie

  • Welcome to blogging! Its going to be an exciting jouney to follow, for sure. :)

  • Welcome to the papa! Yay!

  • I’m so glad you’re doing this! I look forward to reading about your adventures in parenting triplets.

My dad is the father of triplets, too. He tells the story of grocery shopping on weekends and filling two carts: one full of regular groceries for the two older kids and parents, the second full of jars of baby food.

    It’ll be fun. Really.

  • Great blog. I’m an expectant father of triplets as well (we are only at 18 weeks). Your thoughts/feelings — being in shock for 3-4 days — is right on the money.

I look forward to following your progress!
